About Keith Walklet

Nearly thirty years ago, Keith S. Walklet traded a daily commute (from Connecticut to New York City) for the mountains of the Western U.S. Setting off with a camera and motorcycle, he explored the continental U.S. and Alaska. Three months and 18,000 miles later, he found himself in Ansel Adams’ playground, Yosemite Valley. Looking for food and shelter for the winter in a beautiful place he could photograph, Keith filled out an application to work for Yosemite Park & Curry Co. He expected to be travelling again in spring. Instead, fourteen years passed and he progressed from his entry-level position to one overseeing public relations and educational programs for Yosemite Concession Services.

Life in the park immersed Keith in a creative community made up of photographers and artists. As his knowledge of the park and photography grew, Keith took every opportunity to improve his skills through photography workshops and art classes. He studied with 27 different artists in a variety of media including acrylic, watercolor, etching and illustration through the Yosemite Art Activity Center.

Though most well-known for his traditional color landscapes, Keith has an eclectic portfolio that expresses his imagery in a variety of media.

Keith and his wife Annette Bottaro-Walklet’s work is offered through The Ansel Adams Gallery in Yosemite and Sun To Moon Gallery in Dallas, Texas. Keith teaches for both galleries in addition to being represented by them.

Since moving to Idaho with his wife, Keith has worked full-time as a photographer, writer and workshop instructor. He served on the board of Idaho Photographic Workshop for more than a decade, most of which was spent as the program chair for the organization.

 Print Information

The print size varies slightly depending on the aspect ratio of the image and the fact that we print most of our images as full frame prints. While 6 x 7cm and 4 x 5 inch film dimensions approximate the traditional paper dimensions, 35mm has a longer aspect ratio. In order to print the full 35mm image, a portion of the paper (widthwise) is unused. The actual image dimensions are therefore smaller. Actual Print Dimensions typically includes a minimum of 1" white border on all sides.

Keith Walklet recommends Nielson matte black profile style 99 for framing.
