Details Finishing & Additional Information

Ansel Adams made this image in 1947 using a 5" x 7" view camera. As viewed from Glacier Point, the perspective of Half Dome is a quintessential Yosemite vista, which Adams captured here with a dramatic thunderstorm brewing to the East.
Adams cherished this magical viewpoint and when Georgia O'Keefe and David McAlpin first visited Yosemite in September 1938, Glacier Point was one of the first stops; they had dinner here beneath the moonlight. In his foreword to "Portfolio III, Yosemite Valley ," Adams muses about the mystical connection he feels with Yosemite :
“ Yosemite Valley , to me, is always a sunrise, a glitter of green and golden wonder in a vast edifice of stone and space. I know of no sculpture, painting, or music that exceeds the compelling spiritual command of the soaring shape of granite cliff and dome, of patina of light on rock and forest, and of the thunder and whispering of the falling, flowing waters. At first the colossal aspect may dominate; then we perceive and respond to the delicate and persuasive complex of nature."

Wonderful image, website could use some work March 12, 2016
Reviewer: Steve Hoge from Boulder, CO United States
Very pleased with the quality of the silver print I purchased & the very careful, extra-special packing it arrived in.  Website could be improved:

* Distinguishing "Original Photographs by Ansel Adams" vs "Modern Replicas" vs "Yosemite Special Edition Photographs" vs "Matted Reproductions" is tricky for the uninitiated.   They're ALL Ansel Adams "photographs", but which ones are original Adams' silver prints, prints by others from original negs, ink-jet prints, & offset-printed reproductions?  Eventually viewers get the terminology, but some buyers probably surprised they didn't actually purchase the version they intended.

* Thumbnails are too small & "larger photo" is still too small to evaluate quality, but I understand copyright issues, etc.  But no excuse for not having a decent "slide-show view" of complete stock with links to purchase pages.

* Image history & metadata is hit & miss. Luckily had a xeroxed sheet with details but all this info should be on the site. THE ANSEL ADAMS GALLERY. Steve, You nailed it. As the manager of the website, you have clearly articulated our next phase of development which is currently in the works. Our terminology is confusing, the availability of images is various media is not clear (there is a definite reason which deals with copyright issues) and the site imagery really doesn't do justice to the finished product. Look for some slideshows (as you suggested) to be released in April, 2016.

Great gift idea. March 7, 2016
Reviewer: Nelson Landmesser from Downingtown, PA United States
I purchased this as a graduation gift for my nephew.  He wrote to tell me how much he loves the print, and the sentiment behind the gift.  I am very pleased with the purchase.
